# Dhana Dal

Dhana dal, a classic after-meal crunch.

Dhana dal is roasted, split coriander seed, a familiar part of Indian mukhwas and after-meal mixes. In our Meetha Paan it adds a light crunch and a warm, gently citrusy aroma alongside the gulkand and betel leaves.

- Dhana dal: roasted, split coriander seeds
- Adds a light crunch and warm aroma
- A traditional mukhwas ingredient

## A mukhwas favourite

Across Indian homes and restaurants, a small spoon of dhana dal, fennel and seeds after a meal is a long-standing habit. The coriander seed is split and roasted, so the husk falls away and the golden inner pieces are left: crisp, light and fragrant.

## Texture and aroma

Our Meetha Paan is soft and moist, led by gulkand and finely chopped betel leaves. Dhana dal brings a gentle, nutty crunch next to the fennel, watermelon seeds and kadi supari, with a warm coriander aroma that rounds out the sweetness.

## Part of the whole blend

Dhana dal is a supporting ingredient rather than the lead. It sits among the gulkand, dates and dhaga mishri, adding body and a familiar after-meal character, while the identity of the blend stays rooted in paan.

## A little ingredient knowledge

Dhana dal comes from coriander seeds (dhania), the dried seeds of the same plant whose leaves are used as fresh coriander. Splitting and roasting the seeds is what gives dhana dal its crunch and toasty aroma.
